Press Release Summary:
February 14, 2008- Toronto, Canada - Dr. Robert Bell, President and CEO of the
University Health Network (UHN) will deliver a keynote

Press Release Body: presentation on Image Guided Therapy (GTx) at the 2008
Government & Health Technologies Conference and Expo, being hosted April 15 & 16,
2008 at the Design Exchange in Toronto Canada.
UHN is a world-leader in Image-guided therapeutics, dubbed "GTx." GTx integrates
imaging technologies to provide a "GPS" for cancer surgeons - where surgical tools,
the surgical target and the surrounding anatomy are visualized precisely in real
time three-dimensional images. Image-guided technology allows the surgeon to
accurately pinpoint cancer cells and tumors and then remove them without harming the
surrounding structures or healthy tissue. Patients benefit from faster recovery
times and enhanced quality of life during and after treatment. It also reduces the
likelihood that a cancer patient will need to return for further surgery.
The GTx initiative has grown out of a common desire to translate the use of guided
therapeutics to other imaging technologies and clinical problems outside the realm
of radiation therapy.
With components at all three UHN sites, the GTx program has is an instrumental part
of cancer, cardiac, and neuroscience patient care.
An internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon, healthcare executive,
clinician-scientist and educator, Dr. Bell brings more than 20 years of experience
in healthcare to his role. Since 2000, he served as Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer of UHN's Princess Margaret Hospital where he was responsible for
leading the strategic vision and operation of Canada's largest comprehensive cancer
centre. Since 2003, he has served as Regional Vice President and Chair of the
Clinical Council of Cancer Care Ontario.
